Special A$$embly Day Notes
by PrincessCynic ini wasted my sunday yesterday attending the special a$$embly day.
i thought some of you might like to see some of the notes i took to keep myself amused/awake.. we had a guest speaker from the local old people's home bethel.
he seemed slightly senile.

Was it the doctrine or the control that woke you up?
by Evidently Apostate ineven though i knew some of the doctrines were so convoluted they couldnt be genuine, every prophecy mentioned in the bible was simplistic and direct i still felt it was the best place to raise a family.
i felt like i could ignore the hypocrisy, manipulative and fake personalities and still have true friends and unbreakable family bonds.
even though my concience would bother me i would always try to forgive.

Doctrine.. "generation" being a major one. Also, longtime repressed doubts and a general sense of skepticism. Also, as an eventual result of travelling, i ended up thinking a great deal about equal opportunity to "know Jehovah" for people who live in remote areas or places like Pakistan, China, etc., and the influence that psychological and cultural predisposition would have on them, and how that didn't seem to match Jehovah's supposed qualities of Justice and Impartiality.

Comments from a real JW about the killing of apostates watchtower. You will be shocked..
by Hairyhegoat inthis is a very good find from another jw only web site i have access to... hey i just found this on a link of my mom's that she is "friends" with, yes, still a jw...anyway, i had to copy/paste it so you could all see, thought it was a bit hilarious to see how they blatantly speak of keeping info from "outsiders.
" i did not copy the name of the person since that is not my point and i am not that disrespectful, but i did copy their comment...they were discussing the wt about killing all apostates and someone that was studying asked a question as to whether they all thought that was right or not, so here it is..............."james... although its a great article and very encouraging, as apostates do deserve to be murdered, it may not be such a good idea to reveal it our friend zeek at this moment.
he may find it a tad over the top.

comments from an "apostate" posing as a witness, to show the absurdity of their stance in a way that the witness shouldn't disagree with it but sees the problem.
real JWs don't talk like that.

Is The WTBTS' View Of Homosexuality Softening?
by JW GoneBad inor at least the public may be given the impression that jws and the wtbts are fair minded and do not discriminate against the homosexual lifestyle.
check out this quote from the nov 1, 2011 watchtower (public edition).
the article on page 4 is entitled 'ten questions about sex answered'.. question 8: does god approve of homosexuality?.

Some pretty blatant stuff coming up in bookstudy
by agent zero inso i was reading ahead in the bookstudy book "bearing thorough witness" about god's kingdom, and i came upon some shockingly direct damage control on behalf of the gb in the material for the upcoming weeks.. on page 104: what a privilege it is to be instructed and molded by our patient and kind heavenly father!
the results are always good and always to our advantage.
so let us never proudly push ahead with our own ideas or react negatively to organizational changes or to adjusted explanations of certain scriptures.

Notice they bolster their claim by citing "impartial sources." Normally, the impartial sources would be named in the text
I'm sorry for that one, i left out the sentence that comes after it. I should have included it, but it seemed somewhat unnecessary, vague, and the impartiality of it is highly questionable. But the paragraph concludes like this:
"In his book Truth in Translation, Jason David BeDuhn, associate professor of religious studies at Northern Arizona University in the United States, wrote that Jehovah's Witnesses approached the Bible "with a kind of innocence, and [build] their system of belief and practice from the raw material of the Bible without predetermining what was to be found there.""
it strikes me how they always take one person's "impartial" view (assuming that's even the whole gist of what he wrote, AND that he has no bias) as proof of having truth, and completely dismiss hundreds of (also) "impartial" claims to the contrary.

by ICUstaryn inafter watching serenity's video i had to comment.
i kept pausing the video looking for family members or others that i might know but haven't seen in years.
hated the drive to holt, but loved the soft serve ice cream.

I may hold the current record of most recent last service day: August of this year!
and that was tagging along on others' RVs and coffee breaks. last time i actually talked to someone at a door was probably around June.
i have still been putting in rediculously low fake reports, but hope to phase that out in the next few months, although i have a real hounder as an overseer.

me i'm a 2nd generation (in the real sense of the word) witness. many of us are suffering the consequences of what our parents or grandparents got into at a time when becoming a JW wasn't so intellectually shameful and actually sort of made sense.
